click on “Create a new blog”

Choose and type in a username, and your email address.  Check “Gimme a blog!” and click “Next”.

 Choose and type in a “Blog Domain” name.  The domain name needs to be at least 4 characters, numbers and lowercase letter only.  The resulting domain name of your new blog will be in this format:  www.myblogdomainname.nelanews.net.   Type in a “Blog Title”.  This can be a descriptive sentence.  The “Blog Title” can be changed later.  The “Blog Domain” name cannot be changed later.

Select a “Privacy” setting and click “signup”.

The next screen confirms that your blog is now registered, and that the system will send you an activation email.

The email should arrive within a few moments; it will contain an activation link that you must click to activate your new blog. 

If you should happen to receive a “Page not found” error message after clicking the activation link, simply click your refresh button a few times.  Internet Explorer can sometimes be temperamental in this way.  The activation link will take you to a screen that looks like this:

The system will now send you a second email containing a randomly generated password.

Select and copy the password, then click on the login link.

Paste in the password you just copied, and click “Log in”.  You could also manually type in the password, but since it is randomly generated, it is usually long.

The first screen you will see upon logging in is the WordPress “Dashboard.”

As a suggestion, the very first thing you should do after logging in, is change the password to something you can easily remember.

Click “Users” in the upper right corner of the Dashboard.

At the manage users screen, click on your username.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and set a new password.  While you are on this page, you could also fill in your name.
